Algo expands its portfolio

One of Perthshire’s most progressive and enterprising firms has expanded their portfolio of serviced office accommodation at Inveralmond with the purchase of the Woods of Perth premises on Auld Bond Road.

Algo OwnersAlgo Business Centre, built by sister company Algo Design and Build, is well known for its serviced business centre at Glenearn Road, but demand from tenants for more space encouraged the family firm to look for a new site to complement the existing one.

Algo, who recently celebrated 25 years in business, initially concentrated on the construction of farm buildings and cold stores. It has since developed into many different types of buildings from distillery warehouses to office blocks. Construction remains the core activity today, however Murray and Pauline Alexander were quick to capitalise on this opportunity after successfully developing the Algo Business Centre in 2004, which has been fully let since it opened.

Pauline said, “We have 47 tenants in 18,000 square feet at the Algo Business Centre, but due to demand we were looking for more office space; the Woods building, situated behind SSE, is perfect as the infrastructure and facilities are excellent and it gives our clients the opportunity to have a base at the opposite side of town with great road links from the A9.” The new premises will be known as the Inveralmond Business Centre and consists of 8000 square feet of office accommodation plus 18,000 square feet of warehousing and a 4500 square foot dispatch warehouse, which would be ideal for a distribution company.

An existing tenant of the Algo Business Centre were the catalyst for the expansion. Pauline explained, “Due to a large project in the area the tenant needed more office space than we could offer at Glenearn Road. They will take up 3,500 square feet of the ground floor at the Inveralmond building.  This will free up four office suites at Glenearn Road.”

One of the warehouses plus 900 square feet of office space has already been snapped up by an international engineering company.

A further four offices are available at Auld Bond Road as well as two of the warehouses. The success of Algo’s office rental business is down to providing top quality services including a serviced reception area, boardroom facilities and high speed broadband.

Pauline said, “The quality of our tenants at Algo Business Centre is exceptional and we enjoy the good rapport we have with them. The success of businesses we accommodate, I am sure, will be contagious and with 80% of the new acquisition pre let it can only go from strength to strength. At the Algo Business Centre we have the only dedicated 100Mb broadband line in Perth which demonstrates our commitment to providing the best in service.”

Last summer saw the sad demise of one of Perth’s oldest firms, Woods of Perth established in 1830, but the modern premises they built at Inveralmond are a legacy which, through Algo, will enable new small businesses to establish themselves in the area.
